Where the golden forest meets the flowing river ; this is the soul of Sona Vana.
Woven in pure Tussar silk from the heartland of Odisha, this saree arrives in a luminous honey-gold, the colour of sunlight filtering through a canopy of ancient sal trees. The body of the saree breathes with an open, natural weave, the hallmark of genuine Tussar carrying scattered fish butis (meen buti) that drift across the field like life moving through still water. In Odishan weaving tradition, the fish is an auspicious motif — a symbol of fertility, abundance, and the eternal flow of life.
The temple border (deula pat) runs along both sides in deep wine-purple, finished with the iconic kumbha, the temple-spire edging that roots every Sambalpuri-influenced Odishan saree in sacred geometry.
The pallu is where the jungle comes alive. Row upon layered row of motifs tell a complete story of the forest and river: swaying palm and coconut trees rendered in olive, gold and teal; peacocks in their full ceremonial plumage; creeping vines and floral arches; deer and birds sheltered within garden canopies all woven in a rich multicolour palette of burgundy, mustard, grey, teal, ivory and green against a deep maroon-chocolate ground. Each band of the pallu is a world unto itself, the kind of weaving that rewards slow, careful looking.
This saree is for the woman who wears her stories ; who understands that a truly great saree is not just clothing, but a piece of living craft.
