Body (Khandua/Field): Deep maroon/wine ground with scattered ikat buti, small diamond and arrow-shaped motifs in red, white, and pink, arranged in vertical drop-repeat rows. Fine weft lines run across the body giving it a subtle striped texture. Classic ekkat (single ikat) weave on the body.
Border (Both sides ;running border): A multi-layered border in black with the following bands from outer to inner:
Outermost edge: Narrow checkerboard/dotted band in black & gold/mustard
Main border band: Broad black border with dense ikat patterning ,flowing wave-like or creeper motifs woven in black-on-black with muted golden highlights, giving a rich textural depth
Inner accent stripe: Thin mustard/golden separating line
Body junction strip: Fine black & white geometric check band
Pallu (Anchal) ; Pasapali: The standout feature classic Pasapali (chessboard) pattern in black and white squares with bold red ikat motifs (star/cross/flower forms) centered in the white blocks. Flanked by black bands with ikat figurative patterns and finished with the same mustard border. A red accent stripe runs along the pallu base.
Bold, traditional, festival-worthy the maroon-black-red palette is deeply rooted in Odishan handloom heritage.
